The strategy we use in our classroom is “Star Breathing”. We turn the lights off and everyone stops what they are doing. We raise one hand, with fingers spread open like a “STAR”, and with the opposite hand’s pointer finger, we weave it up and down our STAR and move our bodies (up and down) in conjunction with our finger. We then repeat using the opposite hand. Once we do this, the children are focused and seem more relaxed and ready to listen to any information we need to impart. We take the time teaching it to the children on the first day of school, and within a few days, it becomes routine for all. We have been using this technique for 3 years and it has served us well. Hope this helps!
