Whole/large group time can be held at any time of the day that is meaningful to it's various purposes.  Whether it is held morning to engage in song/musical experience or introduce new materials,  mid-day to read a story, at the end of the day to address questions or recall and/or record events, whole group meetings create a sense of community while providing an opportunity for children to experience a sense of belonging to a group.  As children express thoughts, feelings, and ideas, they practice communication skills while they talk about topics that interest them and solve problems that affect the whole group
